Continuing with the reason for the season… I’ve been wanting to do a video for this song for the longest time but finding visuals that fit has been really challenging. It would be easy to find clips or images that are literal, but abstract gives a completely different spin.

The New Horizon Choir did real justice to this beautiful Graham Kendrick song – which was also written for Spring Harvest’s 1984 theme of “The Servant King”. (A bit of worship music history for you there!) The song might be from the early 1980s but there’s no way it’s going out of my worship repertoire any time soon! Fortunately, it has easy guitar chords. :))

I hope you are deeply touched by the words, the melody and the arrangement, but most of all, by what Jesus did for us when he became man to dwell among us. Jesus is by far, the best example of leadership for us.

Thank you for watching/listening. Please subscribe to my channel if you would like to see more content like this, and/or leave a message. :))

Helpless babe,
Entered our world,
Your glory veiled;
Not to be served
But to serve,
And give Your life
That we might live.

This is our God,
The Servant King,
He calls us now
To follow Him,
To bring our lives
As a daily offering
Of worship to
The Servant King.

There in the garden
Of tears,
My heavy load
He chose to bear;
His heart with sorrow
Was torn,
‘Yet not My will
But Yours,’ He said.

Come see His hands
And His feet,
The scars that speak
Of sacrifice;
Hands that flung stars
Into space
To cruel nails

So let us learn
How to serve,
And in our lives
Enthrone Him;
Each other’s needs
To prefer,
For it is Christ
We’re serving.
