Be Thou My Vision is a much loved Irish hymn and appears on this channel twice! (The first one just had four verses; here you have all five) The melody (Slane) is gorgeous and is used for several other hymns/folk songs. The version here was recorded in 1999 at The Mandate conference in Belfast and is led by Robin Mark. It’s lovely listening to an all-male choir singing in unison.

Lyrics:
Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart,
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art;
Thou my best thought by day or by night,
Waking and sleeping, Thy presence my light.
Be Thou my wisdom, be Thou my true word,
I ever with Thee, Thou with me Lord;
Thou my great Father, and I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.
Be Thou my breastplate, my sword for the fight;
Be Thou my armour, Thou my true might;
Thou my soul’s shelter, Thou my high tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.
Riches I need not, nor man’s empty praise:
Thou mine inheritance now and always;
Thou and Thou only the first in my heart:
O Sovereign of heaven, my treasure Thou art.
High King of heaven, after victory won;
Grant heaven’s joys to me, bright heaven’s Sun,
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my vision, O Ruler of all.
