Is there anyone who does not know Amazing Grace? It has been played by marching bands all over the world and sung in football stadiums. Churches, youth groups, small gatherings – all still have it on their playlist. I’ve seen a grown man cry because he has been impacted by the words. And of course, it is the testimony of a slave trader himself, John Newton. There are many variations with the verses. The four featured here are the most common and most likely known by heart.

Lyrics
AMAZING GRACE! how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me;
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear,
The hour I first believed!

Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come;
’Tis grace that brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we first begun.
